Even Animals Can Be Jingoistic

Egad. As proof that we can always embarrass ourselves a little more with overboard patriotism, this product sighting on the shelves of Petsmart: a doormat emblazoned with a folk-art kitty and country stars, stripes and hearts, reading "Proud to be an American Cat!"

Hey, I've got nothing against pets and their personalities (got a passel of 'em at home myself), but I seriously doubt whether my cat is aware he's an American, or that he should be proud.
