A Cheap Yarn
It will come as no surprise to those who know me that I heart "The Dollar Spot" at Target. Lots of it is junk I don't need, but I'll note that today, the offerings have expanded to include numerous skeins of yarn of the "fun fur" and "ladder" varieties (albeit generic versions), along with some very frail-looking bamboo needles and small instructional booklets. You know the Knit Revolution has arrived when even the Dollar Spot's hip to it.
As someone who knits constantly, I'm pretty excited to give these varieties a whirl. At a buck a skein, there's no chance of stash-builder's remorse.
A few days before I discovered the $1 yarns at Target, I purchased several skeins of kid merino for a much heftier price elsewhere. It looks just like the fuzzy yarn at Target, which is 100% nylon. I intend to practice with the cheap stuff before attacking the more expensive yarn.
The little pattern books are cute for beginners.
