More Booze on S. Grand

Coming soon to the South Grand strip, look for Urban, billing itself as a wine bar and cocktail lounge. The spot's got an awning and work permit up at 3216 S. Grand (perilously close to Erato, the wine bar, and Absolutli Goosed, a cocktail lounge, but hey, the more the merrier!) and teases with drinks like lychee mojitos and an elixir called "el mariachi."

Does anyone know why South Grand doesn't have an indie movie theatre? Has there been one there in the past, and does its physical space remain?

The Ritz movie theater used to be on the west side of Grand between Hartford and Juniata. Now it's a parking lot. The Commonspace ran some before and after photos in November 2001: http://www.thecommonspace.org/2001/11/eye.php
