No More Stopping at Level 1
We're told that CWE men's shop Level 1 -- one of the first in a handful of clothing boutiques that catered to hip, young men -- will be shutting its doors near the end of July. Sister store Mezzanine Wearables, right next door, keeps on truckin'. Is it that men just don't want to shop as much we think they do?
Anyway, for those who *do* enjoying squeezing the fabric, the store's on clearance til the doors close, at 387 N. Euclid.
Ah, that's a shame. I remember when they opened. I saw it coming though, I must admit. There just aren't enough guys into designerwear to support it -- at least not in STL.
Posted by: Marijean at June 28, 2007 08:22 PMhere's the thing, though: in the intervening time, several other men's (or at least w/substantial dudes' sections) shops have opened, e.g. Moris Fashions, Play, etc. So, was Level 1 just too early out the gate, or are those others just waiting to fail, too?
Posted by: cherry at June 28, 2007 09:17 PMNo - there is plenty of desire for hip men's clothes in St. Louis - Just go to some of the other stores and notice that its difficult to find sizes - I think the problem with Level1 was that it carried only a couple of lines, none that were very interesting, yet mostly very pricey - a better mix of lines and deesigners at varying price points probably would have helped a bunch.
